Or do you really believe that it's not US policy they hate but rather the Republican party? I'm asking because at this point I really don't know what you mean. In any case I think it's obvious why the democrats are celebrating, because we won. Now, you want to link the two. That is to say you want to imply that there's something wrong with the majority of the country voting for Democrats the way they did because of the way it was perceived in some quarters over seas. Why aren't you asking about the public opinion polls in Europe that show most people there are glad the Democrats won as well? Cause it doesn't get people as riled up? Or is it because when it comes to our internal politics the relevancy of those opinions outside this country don't matter. And we know they don't. Most people voted for Democrats because they are sick of the war in Iraq and they want a change. Most people know Bush lied to get us there. And they know he has no plan to get us out. Now you and the rest of the neo-cons want to equate this with being "soft on terror." It is not. And while you're busy linking one political party with terrorism ask yourself this: What party ran an add featuring a ticking sound with images of Bin Laden and explosions and terrorist training videos? You know which one it was. The fact is, your whole party's platform is terror - and Fear. Fear Fear Fear!!!! Even in defeat you can't give it up. Because you want people to be scared. Fear is the Republican party's main weapon. Fear. But the rest of the country is on to you. So to answer your question: Why are the terrorist and the democrats celebrating the same victory? The answer is we're not, the only victory they celebrate is the satisfaction they get when they see you, and people like you, scared and pointing fingers at your own countrymen. Well said, they celebrate for their reasons, and we celebrate for ours.
I really don't care what a Sunni or Shia really thinks about a U.S. election, all I care about is the U.S. election.
What's good for my country - not the opinions of various riff raff overseas.
This conflict was supposed to be simple, that's what the simple people told us.
The military victory was won years ago but this administration insisted on staying and losing the peace.
Muslim extremists want to kill Americans. They attacked this country in an unprecedented way, are supported by many Muslims throughout the Middle East and Europe (usually the ones who enjoy beheading little girls or hanging them for "crimes against chastity") and yet somehow you find yourself agreeing on political candidates as if their unhappiness and violent proclivities are the result of the Iraq war. What was their excuse before Iraq?
Now I truly don't think terrorist opinion should carry any weight in elections, but I can't help but favor candidates that piss them off.
And what pisses me off is that they don't fear Democrats when they ought to fear every American. They have no right to attack our country or our citizens. There is no complaint they have that legitimizes their barbaric, fascist behavior towards each other much less us.
Democrats have a remarkably high tolerance for intolerance, but it's time for them now to start insisting the favor be returned.

What the fuck does that mean? Democrats haven't been able to do shit because they have been shut out from all branches of government for the last six years. What "tolerance have they been able to give?
This is just another right wing lie. The lie that Democrats are soft on terror.
Everyone knows muslim extremist are a problem. No one wants to get attacked again.
The country has realized that invading Iraq has not made us safer. It has distracted us from the hunt for Bin Laden and the rest of al Queada. Bush himself admits that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11.
The Democrats had every opportunity to take a firm stand against terrorism, but they have preferred instead to take a strong stand against the Bush administration. They've wailed and moaned about Abu Ghraib. They've bitched about GITMO. They've decried the war in Iraq after they gave Bush the authority to go. So far they haven't come up with a cohesive plan for retaliation for 9/11 or the prevention of future attacks. The only thing upon which they've taken a firm stand is civil rights for enemy combatants. And while that is admirable in its generosity, it does not indicate a particularly strong will to fight those who were trying to kill our troops.
And how can you say that Iraq has not made us safer? We haven't had an attack here since 9/11, and the Muslim extremists are not terribly happy that we are over there. It couldn't possibly be because it distracts them from their goal of attacking the US directly on our own soil? Could it?
